New living room furniture!!!

So, we finally got around to getting new living room furniture. We didn't necessarily NEED new furniture, but ours was torn, worn, battered and beaten (and add 3 dogs to that....we don't speak of the terror that was Abby, our other schnauzer who currently lives with an old gentleman on a farm). The set we got from Rooms To Go is the Pemberton and goes marvelous with the colors in there. This is also our Christmas present to each other :) Here it is:
The accent chair:
The sofa:
The love seat:
New lamp:
Up close of the fabric:
And the second accent chair in our bedroom which gives me a quiet reading nook:
And that's all. We are so glad to get it now so that when we host Thanksgiving and Christmas at our house this year, we have nice furniture for our guests. Until next time!

Master Bath :)

Well, we finally got the master bath done. I had a vision in my head of a vintage beach theme, and even though I couldn't find the picture frames I wanted for the art, I feel like it still came out looking good. Eventually I would like to add a small band of glass tile above and around the top of the sink and possibly above the shower/tub....we'll see. Please keep in mind that our house was built in 1953 and bathrooms were much smaller then....we also kept the paneling and just painted it (cause believe it or not, paneling is coming back!!!). Now onto a refresher of what the master bath looked like when we moved in. Ugly shower curtain they left, old sink/vanity and CARPET!!!
Now, with new paint, tile, vanity, art, baseboards, crown moulding and shower curtain:

My "vintage" beachy art:
Sonnet 17 by Pablo Neruda:
Floating shelves that Buddy built using door trim to hold up premade shelves so I could "cutely" store our bathroom stuff in wicker baskets:
And that's about it. House is getting there :) Hope to have some sheetrock put up in the 2 spare bedrooms and our guest bath soon to cover up ugly acoustical tile. Then we can paint and install our new interior doors. Until next time!!

Living Room Redo :)

Yet again, I love change :) I really did love the color of the living room originally (a custom color my hubby created, but is veeery close to Sherwin-Williams Refuge), but the more we looked at it, the more we wished we went darker. So we did. The color is Sherwin-Williams Smokey Blue shot at 150 percent (I think)....it's a little darker than the straight up color, and it turned out quite nice. Here is a pic of the original color (light blue), compared to the new:

The house is getting there. We still have to paint the two spare bedrooms, our bath, and do some touch ups in the hall bath. Then all that's left indoors is to install our new interior doors. Hallelujah!! Until next time :)

Master Bedroom finished - sort of :)

Well, the master bedroom is finished....sort of. We still need to paint the baseboard on 3 of the walls and do a little painting on door trim, but none of this is necessary for the blog since we all know what white trim looks like :) I kept seeing pictures of decor in yellow and grey tones and decided that I really wanted to do this in our room and thought it would look good with our new black bedroom furniture. Once we decided what tones of yellow would look best with the grey paint we had picked out (Sherwin-Williams Mindful Gray), we just needed to find decor to go along. We found some cute yellow and yellow/grey pillows at Target for not a lot of money, and we decided to do all of the artwork ourselves. Here is the entryway into our room:
Take my heart & walk through this world with me (Buddy's idea to put it here):
Buddy's side of the room and the painting he did:
My side of the room and the painting I did:
New curtains and wood blinds. Yes, that is a light above the window. The old woman who lived here before us loved to sew. She had her machine set up under this window and the light comes in handy when we go out so we left it:
Vinyl word art by the dresser. Think I might add some type of moulding around it to look like frames:
Well, that's our bedroom :) We've got paint for one of our spare bedrooms, so we will probably start on it sometime soon.

New Paint in Dining Room :)

Well, change was about to happen at some point :) For those of you who know me, I love to decorate (and re-decorate)....thank goodness my hubby works for Sherwin-Williams! After walking through our dining room on a daily basis, I was beginning to tire of the khaki/neutral tone in there. I love color, and lots of it....so when I saw a photo online of a room that had a burnt orange/copper color, I was in love. We chose a color called Brandywine (Sherwin-Williams, of course!)and set to work. I absolutely love the color, and it gives the room a completely different feel. This color doesn't photograph well, especially with only one window in the room. But, you get the general idea of how it looks. Master bedroom blog should be coming up soon....we just have to finish painting the baseboard, door/window trim, and eventually (but not important for the blog) install our new interior doors. Soooo ready to get rid of these old looking doors. They don't paint well, and look pretty bad.

Kitchen!!! :)

Well, the kitchen is not *all* the way done. We've got to finish changing the color of our grout in the floor, but that's it. So, I decided to update the blog to show you how it looks. This room is by far, the most changed in our house. I found myself wondering why I let my husband talk me into this house after we bought it and moved in. Now, I'm glad we did. I LOVE our house and all of the hard work put into it. It's not perfect, it's not new, but it is a starter home.

Now, onto pictures etc. :)

This is what the kitchen looked like when we moved in. YIKES!! :

Here's some progress pics of putting up new wallpaper:

And the after:

Looks so much better than what we had! I know in some of these pictures the top and bottom cabinets look like different colors. They are the same, it's just caused by the way the light comes in the windows. Next up we have another project going on outside of our house (hopefully starting soon), so keep an eye out for a new blog sometime soon!
