Just a few updates

Well, nothing new to report on the indoors of our house....but, we have some exciting stuff coming up soon for the outside. When we bought this house we knew that eventually we wanted to do columns on the front porch and to get rid of all of that ugly, dated black metal railing, and also paint....cause a white house NEVER looks clean. We decided to do a gray color on the exterior, Sherwin Williams Summit Gray to be exact, and will keep our shutters black and the front door red. Here is a stock photo of what Summit Gray looks like:
We are going to be painting our house ourselves, mainly to save money, but also because we like to do things ourselves to take pride in our house. That being said, feel free to come help...we'll have all of the brushes etc and I'll cook/grill out for everyone. We're going to also be painting our foundation a shade a little bit darker to give it some definition. Now, onto the columns. We talked with our contractor (the same one who did our roof, cause columns and having to lift our porch is more tricky than I care to try and do ourselves...plus we're getting a fantastic deal) and we decided to do craftsman style columns to go along with the age/style of our house. They're going to be brick on the bottom (painted the same color as whatever we choose for the foundation) and will go straight up instead of being tapered at the top. Here is a similar style of column:
Then, we will start on landscaping the front and ripping out all of the old, ugly plants. We're going to be doing this ourselves too, and are doing something simple to go along with the size of our house. After that, all that's left is our two spare bedrooms, and installing new black interior doors. I can barely see the end of this tunnel, but I'll take it cause we've come a looooong way with this house. If you look on the right hand side of the post, you will see different blogs. If you click on the 2010 link, it will take you to our very first house blog and you should be able to see everything we've done until now.
